Moving on your own is difficult enough, but moving in the rain can be nearly impossible without ruining all of your belongings. While we would suggest you higher professionals for this task, here are a few tips for moving in the rain if you insist on moving yourself.

USE YOUR GARAGE
If you have a garage, make it work for you on moving day. Back the truck right up to the garage and load your belongings with minimal water damage from the rain.

WEAR THE RIGHT GEAR
Ponchos or rain coats will be much appreciated when you have to stand in the rain on moving day. Check the forecast ahead of moving day, so you don't get stuck searching for your rain gear when a storm rolls through.

PROTECT YOUR FLOORS
Put down a few blankets, cardboard pieces, old carpet or rugs in the entrance way. Not only will this prevent your floors from muddy shoe prints, it will also prevent slick wet floors from causing serious injuries.

PROTECT YOUR BELONGINGS
Extra gear like tarps, blankets, and even towels can help cover boxes or furniture to protect your belongings.

Sometimes you can't wait until the storm passes. Use these tips to help move yourself when the job just has to get done regardless of the weather.

EXTRA TIP: LAY A PATH OF CARDBOARD THROUGH THE GRASS
This will help prevent falling and also cut down on muddy shoe prints.
